Study shows that ‘Stroke’ is the leading cause of death in rural India

Dr. Abhay Bang and his group recently published the results of a study conducted in Gadchiroli, India. They analyzed the cause of death in 86 villages over a period of two years. They found that ‘Stroke’ is the leading cause of death!. about 48% of them were women. There were 192 deaths from stroke for every 100,000 population. Of total stroke deaths, 87.3% occurred at home and 46.3% occurred within the first month from the onset of symptoms. 1 in 7 deaths were due to stroke!
