Stroke Warning Signs
The onset of many a stroke can be detected early with the signs as shown in the pictogram here. These are sudden and unexplained onset of any/some of the following:
– Trouble Speaking
– Sudden, severe headache
– Dizziness
– Vision problems
– Face drooping
– Weakness in a limb
You can also use the FAST test to more clearly establish what is happening.
If a stroke is suspected after observing such stroke warning signs, the affected needs to get to a qualified medical facility fast. In many areas, you can call 108 for the same.
108 is a free telephone number for emergency services in India, currently operational in 17 States ( Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh) and two Union Territories (Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.) The 108 Emergency Response Service is a free emergency service providing integrated medical, police and fire emergency services. The service is a public-private partnership between state governments and private EMS providers. This (108) system was introduced by Anbumani Ramadoss former health minister of India. 108 is also functional in Punjab and Bihar . Till November 2014 this service handled 5.4 lakh emergency cases in India.
The only medication that I would suggest to take even before the emergency service personnel arrive is Aspirin (300mg). It does not imply, however, that aspirin cures stroke. This is why we should call emergency as soon as possible
I wonder if there are home remedies or some tablets generally kept in Households which could be given while waiting for an ambulance to arrive to lessen brain damage ?
