Help Stroke Survivors and their Families in India

No (wo)man is an island. And no disease brings the need for NOT being an island, even if one so wishes, more shockingly to the front than a Stroke.

In a matter of minutes, the whole life of both the Stroke Survivors as well as their immediate families changes. Roles not even considered are thrust upon one and matters one is unaware of or has not given any thought so far suddenly become center stage. And Support in all aspects of life becomes very, very essential. Good recoveries are possible. But that needs consistent and determined efforts from the stroke survivor, motivated and helped by the caregivers ( families) as well as specialists such as physiotherapists, Speech Language Pathologists, psychiatrists etc. as needed.

In India the situation is worse than in advanced countries. Stroke Awareness is dismal to say the least, and Government Assistance has its own limitations.

In such a scenario it is primarily upon the public to help themselves. The good aspect is that most facets about Stroke  – its Causes, Consequences and Treatment – can benefit immensely from sharing knowledge, expertise, experiences and encouragement , although each stroke is unique by itself.

Stroke Support India is committed to provide such sharing via this Website and our many other initiatives. That is possible only if many, many like-minded people come forward to help the Cause.Hence, if  you – or your family / friends are in anyway interested in or impacted by Stroke, we request you to join in our efforts towards this noble Cause. You can help in the following ways :
