[4/11, 5:08 PM] Sukanya Acharya: Hello, seeking inputs on some recipes with measurements if possible for giving soft semi solids on trial basis to my dad

[4/11, 5:10 PM] Arvind Chittor: Tell more about what type of diet he’s on. Any food restrictions?

[4/11, 5:10 PM] Sukanya Acharya: Can anyone suggest where to look up or if there is a dietician on the group pl- custard, mashed khichdi cooked in a little ghee and ground in to a thick paste were 2 suggestions, it will help if I can find some recipes which provide measurements. Doctor has said no liquids or solids. Also no particles or lumps in soft semi solids. My father is on diabetic diet, borderline diabetes it seems

[4/11, 5:11 PM] Sukanya Acharya: Currently on nasal feeding- 2 hourly- we are giving oats/ sago, ragi, moong dal blend, rice and dal blend, roti blend

[4/11, 5:54 PM] M Laxman: Finger millet molt

[4/11, 6:11 PM] Pooja: How do u do the Roti blend for nasal feeding. For my dad we do pumpkin soup, lauki, carrot, mushroom & broccoli soup, yellow dal, split green dal, liquid upma without Vegis.. All food sieved before feeding.

[4/11, 6:17 PM] Sukanya Acharya: Ragi with milk and water thickened like custard you mean? Thank you for your help

[4/11, 6:19 PM] Sukanya Acharya: All this is nasal feeding? Very interesting. Is your dad diabetic?

[4/11, 6:20 PM] Pooja: He was border line diabetic, but after the stroke his sugar levels and ratios are normal. So the half metformin that he was having has been stopped.

[4/11, 6:22 PM] Pooja: But he doesn’t take sugar as he stopped it 45 years ago.. So a little honey & jaggery to sweeten up if required

[4/11, 6:23 PM] Pooja: He had mouth ulcer problems and still does so there are no spices at all. Can’t even take black pepper..

[4/11, 6:24 PM] Sukanya Acharya: Roti blend: 1 piece roti- 30 grams atta, 75ml moong water, 100 ml boiled veggies like carrots, raw papaya, peas. Palak, plus 1 gram salt.

Make the roti and then take the bottom unspotted portion and blend it with the rest and then sieve

[4/11, 6:27 PM] Pooja: Any suggestion how to transition him to oral.. He is scared I think. Because everytime he does oral eating the cough increases.

[4/11, 6:28 PM] Pooja: He is able to swallow.

[4/11, 6:28 PM] Pooja: But maybe half a bowl at one time

[4/11, 6:35 PM] Arvind Chittor: Start with honey(helps to get used to swallowing as it’s a new task for him. . It was advised by my previous Health care specialist.

[4/11, 6:44 PM] Pooja: So should we do suction first.. Then feed. So that there is no obstruction

[4/11, 6:46 PM] Arvind Chittor: Yes, that’s the procedure.

[4/11, 6:48 PM] Pooja: OK.. Will try that.. I really want to quickly get his tube removed & move to oral feeding.. But the food intake should be substantial enough to sustain a healthy diet..

[4/11, 6:58 PM] Arvind Chittor: Consult your dietitian and doctor for advice.
